Code of Conduct
This Code of Conduct establishes a standard of behavior for riders and trainers of SNHJA. It aims to ensure a respectful, safe, and positive environment for all participants, fostering the growth and enjoyment of the sport.
By participating in SNHJA activities, riders and trainers agree to adhere to this Code of Conduct.
1. Respect and Fair Play
- Treat all individuals with dignity and respect, including competitors, officials, volunteers, and spectators.
- Show respect to horses, understanding their needs and welfare come first.
- Accept decisions and results gracefully, demonstrating good sportsmanship at all times.
- Recognize that results and decisions by the judge, board or show management are final.
2. Safety and Welfare
- Prioritize the physical and mental well-being of horses at all times.
- Ensure horses are properly cared for, including appropriate feeding, grooming, exercise, workloads and medical attention.
- Use appropriate and well-maintained equipment, including helmets and protective gear.
- Employ training methods that are focused on the well-being of both horse and rider.
4. Responsibilities of Riders
- Come to events and training sessions prepared, both physically and mentally.
- Maintain a high standard of personal grooming and horse care.
- Cooperate with officials and adhere to their instructions.
- Take responsibility for your actions and those of your horse.
- Know and abide by the rules published in the SNHJA Premium, including deadlines and cross-entry restrictions.
- Address any issues or concerns with your trainer or relevant officials promptly.
5. Responsibilities of Trainers
- Provide clear, constructive guidance and support to riders.
- Promote a positive training environment that fosters growth and development.
- Ensure all training practices adhere to the highest standards of safety and ethics.
- Maintain open, honest communication with riders, parents, and officials.
- Know and abide by the rules published in the SNHJA Premium, including deadlines and cross-entry restrictions.
- Address any issues or conflicts in a professional and timely manner.
